Two Women Celebrate 100th Birthday

Two women who have witnessed history including both world wars, seventeen U.S. presidents and the transformation of a country into a digital world will be celebrating their 100th birthdays with friends and family.

“They are amazing women with so many stories to tell. It’s an honor and a privilege to call them friends and to celebrate their very special day here,” said American Lutheran Homes - Mondovi and Hillview Senior Living Administrator Ken King.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Wilma Synstad and Gertrude Hoch’s 100th birthdays at a special party.

We asked what made their home in Mondovi special. Gertrude said, “All the people over the years I’ve been able to play cards with, memories and the great care I’ve received.” Wilma says, “I just love it here. It’s my home!”

King added, “From my perspective, I marvel at what they have endured over their lifetime and the positive outlook that they both possess is truly amazing.”

American Lutheran Homes operates Hillview Senior Living and American Lutheran Homes-Mondovi, as well as American Lutheran Homes-Menomonie and Autumn Village Assisted Living.
