Chaplaincy
Pastoral Care is essential to our Mission at American Lutheran Homes and Autumn Village. With respect for each person’s religious preference, worth, and dignity our Pastoral Care Department strives to meet the spiritual needs of the people we serve through the expression of the Christian Gospel.

Chaplaincy services, available to residents, family and staff, include Protestant Ecumenical worship services, Roman Catholic Mass, specialized music worship, Bible studies, visitations, religious counseling, memorial services, and funerals.

Can you believe all the rain?!  They say it is one of the rainiest (is that a word?) summers so far.  Granted this is the beginning of August when I am writing this, so things could have changed.  All I know is that I have been mowing lawn more than I ever have.  The corn is wonderful, but so are the weeds.  Its not that I am complaining, but really I am.  Figure that one out.

As plants are watered they grow and grow and grow.  Yes, this summer proves it.  But so it is for the Christian.  The more he/she is watered by the Word, by prayer and by fellowship with strong Christians we see growth too.  We want growth in plants (Well, maybe not the weeds, but that is another analogy.) because they are healthy and produce the fruit we are wanting.  So we need strong productive Christians that show the fruit God desires to see in us.  (See Galatians 5:22,23)

Do you spend quality time in God’s Word, in prayer and in good Christian fellowship?  I hope so.  If you do, you and others will see the growth that God gives, for we are then abiding in Jesus, the Vine.  (John 15:4,5)  Remember, we abide and God gives the growth.  (1Corinthians 3:6,7)  Begin the watering process by looking up these verses.  And if you see me at the Nursing Home or out in a store, tell me how you are being watered and how God is doing a good work in you.  I would be blessed to hear it!

Because of Jesus,

Pastor Paul Pillman - Chaplain
